LIMOUSINE HIRE UK - IS THE LIMO YOU WANT TO HIRE LEGAL?
Your Special Occasion will be Spoilt if your Hire Limo is Impounded
Most of the Limousines (Limos) for hire in the UK are imported Limousines from the U.S.A. The smaller stretch limousines for hire are able to carry up to 9 or 10 passengers. However, there are an increasing number of larger stretch Limos such as Hummers and Excursions available for hire, which are professionally stretched in the U.S.A. by professional Limo Companies such as Executive Limos' (http://www.ecblimo.com/) and are capable of carrying up to 20 passengers.
UK MINISTRY OF TRANSPORT LIMO HIRE REGULATIONS
VOSA(Vehicle and Operator Services Agency) LINK has now introduced legislation that came into force in October 2009 which provides for the impounding of illegally operated public service vehicles(PSVs). These are vehicles such as buses, coaches, minibuses and stretch limousines that should be operated under a PSV operator's licence but are not.
Operators who choose to flout the law by working outside the licensing system present a risk to the safety of their passengers and other road users. Evidence from the goods vehicle impounding scheme shows that illegal operators are also more likely to operate vehicles that are not maintained to safe standards.
All Hire Limousines carrying over 8 passengers need to meet the PSV regulations, and it is prohibited to carry more than 16 passengers in a Limo.
1st Direct Limousines http://www.1stdirectlimousines.co.uk/index.htm hire chauffeur driven stretch Hummer Limos in London & Essex UK using legally licensed Hummer Limos to carry up to 16 passengers, these Limos are ideal for weddings, Hen & Stag parties, school proms, special occasions and sporting events.
Commenting on the regulations Brian Bambridge (Director) says:
All Limousine Hire companies should be made to comply with the Law because they are jeopardising their own and their clients' safety and they may not be covered by insurance in the event of an accident.'

Brian believes Limo Hire companies and there are many in the UK who are not complying with the law, should have their vehicles impounded under VOSA regulations. As the costs of Coif (Certificate of Initial Fitness) compliance can cost up to 20,000 for each limo, legal limousine hire companies are at a disadvantage in having to charge their clients higher hire fees to cover these necessary new regulations, making their companies seemingly less competitive.
