" Microsoft announced the RTM (Release to Manufacture) version of their 2010 Product Suite. As a Gold Certified partner, UMT Consulting SA has been gearing up for this release for some time now. We have already internally installed the RC (Release Candidate) version of the product to start analysing the differences, as well as doing an internal upgrade of our project server operational environment to 2010.
We are pleased to report that, thus far, we have not experienced any serious problems with any of our endeavours. This is based on the fact that the core database architecture for the 2010 Suite has stayed the same, where-as with 2007 there was a total re-development of the core architecture of the product.
UMT Consulting SA has been closely involved with all version of Project and Project server ever released by Microsoft, as the implementation of EPM software is one of our niches. UMT Consulting SA is very excited about the 2010 release, as this is the biggest improvement and effort spent on, especially Project server 2010, since the initial launch of project server 2003. Through the years Microsoft has grown the MSP (Microsoft Project Environment) from a stand-alone application to a fully fledged, integrated, communication and collaboration environment.
UMT Consulting SA has been incorporating SharePoint into our overall PPM solutions for the past four years now. Microsoft has always closely interlinked and integrated SharePoint and project server, but with the release of the 2010 Suite, these two products are now more tightly integrated than ever before. Project Server 2010 has been built on-top of SharePoint 2010, how-ever SharePoint 2010 can still exist on its own and definitely within its own right. "
