The Outer Banks is a major tourist destination and is known for its temperate climate and wide expanse of open beachfront. The area also has a light house whose light can be seen from 20 miles away. All the adventurous water activities can be done in the great beaches of the region. The other interesting thing which you can enjoy in the region is a play about Lost Colony, which is considered as the longest running drama of United States. The history about the arrival of English can also be recollected from the local people and places. One can also visit Roanoke Island which is home to Festival Park and all of its art galleries and museums. A 16th century sail boat can be seen on the island. By visiting the places like Battle of Roanoke, Freemen's Colony and the Fanny, you will get to know the civil war history. The sea shores near by known for ship wrecks accidents as number of them have already occurred in the place. In the Graveyard of Atlantic, you can come closer to unfortunate accidents that have taken place in the Outer banks area.
