Web design is the professional creation of websites which have content displayed in various forms to attract users, and it is increasingly becoming the way to online ecommerce.
Of course web refers to the World Wide Web, and this form of publishing content is done use hypertexts and hypermedia. There is careful digital coding, and appropriate digital display through technology. This form of creation of websites is done through a language known as HTML.
Tim Berners-Lee was the first one to ever publish a website on the internet, using this language, and brought about a revolution in the medium of publishing content and bringing about ecommerce. This was done in 1991.
Ecommerce, better explained as electronic commerce, involves the buying and selling of any product, services, or any kind of content through the medium of technology. Of course, the online market, the internet is the most used medium for ecommerce for the new age. The ecommerce at least at one point of the cycle of it's' transactions, uses the internet or the world wide web for its trading.
Now, web sites, are similar to traditional printed pages, as in they both hold information of some kind. It can be on some kind of services, on some form of advertisement or knowledge, or on some kind of a community and on and on.
The differences are that the content on a web page are put forth with the use of various digital coding languages such as HTML, and the output of this content can be placed in front of the desired audience in various forms such as texts, symbols, audio, visual graphics and videos, and so on.
This obviously makes the task of web designing much more complicated and sophisticated. The web designers are people who are well skilled in this form of digital coding, and technologies and software. They need to have undergone thorough training in this form of design and the tools required to design and nowadays there are many courses in which one can avail this training.
The web designer also needs to be able to determine certain aspects of the plan of the website before construction, such as the content that is going to be there, the audience targeted and the characteristics of this audience, the usability of the structure of the site, and preferred mediums used to portray the content on the website.
With more and more competition, web designers need to be original and unique and their websites need to be able to bring about the desired ecommerce and enhance the potential of any information.
