Without Hearing Loss

When it comes to hearing loss, it can be a problem that people are born with or it can be something that develops with time. With a hearing impairment, you may have a complete or partial inability to detect sounds. People may find it relatively more challenging to function day in and day out if they are suffering from hearing loss.

In birth, a loss of hearing can lead to other problems especially when it comes to the speech and language function. It is possible for sign language to be an alternative since babies with this kind of problem do not easily develop their speech and we learn language through our ears. In the case of gradual hearing loss when it comes to adults, this can lead to bouts with depression since it tends to affect the person more on a psychological level.

What can lead to a number of problems is a loss of hearing. You might not hear people when they call you from across the hall. It is possible that you might miss a joke being cracked by someone in your group discussion.

A gradual change in hearing usually comes around by age 20 especially for those born with complete hearing abilities. For hearing loss, it develops with the passage of time and by the time you reach your senior years, you may not be hearing all that well but you need not be afraid for you will not go completely deaf. As they disregard this, a number of people grow very afraid of growing old.

For a hearing impairment, it can be caused by a number of things. There are those who can thank their genes for this but some can put the blame on a number of external factors. For hearing loss, you can attribute the problem to something as simple as listening to your MP3 player day in and day out.

There are two kinds of hearing loss that you should learn about and the first one is CHL or conductive hearing loss. This is where a mechanical problem exists in your outer or middle ear. It is possible that your ear drum does not vibrate in response to sound or your ear bones might be having some difficulty in conducting sound.

Considering a conductive loss of hearing, fluid in the ears is the main culprit. After you swim or bathe, what is important is that you wipe off any excess liquid in your ear area. You should not disregard this for ignorance can lead to serious problems later on.

It is SHL or sensorineural hearing loss that is the second kind of hearing loss and here the problem is in the inner ear area. The main problem that you have in this case is with the tiny hair cells inside your ear as they may not be functioning properly. Taking these into consideration, CHL can be treated and can be reversed but SHL is often permanent.

Especially for temporary hearing loss, the most common culprit in children and adults alike is fluid in the ear as earlier mentioned. Especially when the fluid remains in the ear for months at a time, this can lead to a severe hearing impairment. For your ears, it is always better to e very careful.

There are congenital causes for a loss of hearing but infections can be causes as well. In this case, common infections that often result to a hearing handicap include the measles, meningitis, the mumps, and scarlet fever. Taking your ears into consideration, you need to be very careful if you wish to maintain your good sense of hearing all your life.
