How to Check Backlinks Are You Getting Traffic to Your Site?

The whole point of building backlinks is to increase the amount of targeted traffic to your website or article. But once you put all that work in do you know how to check backlinks to your site or article? Do you know what a backlink is and why you would even care where they are coming form? When you do check your backlinks do you know what kind of information you are looking for? You need to find a tool that will give you the information you need.

You spend the time to build a website or write an article all the research and hands on work, but it will all go to waste if people don't see your site. The way they see your site is more then likely through a Google search. Your goal is to get ranked high in Google. You will do this with backlinks. The importance of backlinks cannot be overstated. The amount and the quality of backlinks is one of the criteria Google uses to rank your site. The quality is most important because the links and the site must be related and relevant to each other. If they aren't then Google will not count that link towards your ranking. So how to check backlinks; are they being noticed by Google?

You need to check that the backlinks are being noticed. Let's look at how to check backlinks. A free tool you can use is the Google Back Links Checker - Google backlinks simply refers to the number of out going links to your website from other websites indexed by Google. The results on Google's data centers will vary during their back link updates until their main index is updated. One problem with this tool is it isn't always accurate because of the updating and it doesn't give you a lot of information that you need. A very good tool to use and is also free is SEO Pro's Link Checker. It gives you a lot of the information you will be looking for.

Some of the criteria you will use this tool to find are: the page you are ranked on, how many links are on that page, it will tell you if the link has a nofollow' command on it and it will give you the anchor text for the link. The nofollow' command is a tag that Google will use to not follow that link. But don't worry about it because Yahoo will still follow those links.

The tools listed above will show you how to check backlinks. I hope I have stressed the importance of not only using backlinks but checking them to make sure they are getting the attention they need. Your goal (and mine) is to get people to view our website or article. The only way they will even know it exists is through Search Engine Optimization which is your backlink. Keep in mind that backlinks can grow exponentially. If you post a backlink on a site and it gets picked up by other sites, the incoming link just potentially increased your traffic. If we send our links out there and never check them it is like doing the work and never reaping the rewards. Make sure your hard work is actually working. Good Luck.
