Why Memory Foam Mattresses Help You Sleep Better

During the nineteen sixties, NASA developed something called memory foam. This material was to be used in space-shuttle seats way back then, but in the eighties, the technology was released to the public, and memory foam mattresses began to take shape.

Before this time, people were stuck sleeping on mattresses which contained springs and coils inside of them. A lot of mattresses made today, still contain these things and can be very harmful if someone happens to accidentally roll after onto one of the springs that just happened to come through the top.

Times are changing, and along with the changes being made throughout the world, changes have been being made to the mattresses within it. Gone are the days when all you had to choose from were box spring type mattresses. Over the last few decades advancements in providing people with most comfortable places to sleep have been on the rise. Foam mattresses are one of the top sellers among all mattresses these days because these things can do something no other kind of mattress can do. They actually react to body heat. After you lay down, not only will the foam shape to your body, it will stay that way.

When the public first began using this foam in their mattresses, traditional hospital beds and beds used in retirement homes started being replaced with this new foam technology. Because of the strength and supportiveness of memory foam, bed sores started to be seen less often and joints began to feel better.

They don't only react to body heat, they also retain it. You won't have to worry about having cold spots on your bed when you use these mattresses. Once, considered something for only the people with a lot of money to enjoy in their homes, nowadays just about anyone who has the money to spend on a traditional mattress can experience the pleasure of owning a foam mattress.

Some people are concerned with getting lost in the bottom of these mattresses. If the density is too low, you will sink into them and have a hard time getting back out. When looking for one to bring home, you might want to try finding one with a density of two or three inches. This will allow maximum comfort and movability, without getting sucked down to the bottom.

Many people struggle with getting restful sleep. Tossing and turning is something not unknown to a great deal of persons who just can't seem to fall asleep. The stresses of the day pile up and laying down on an uncomfortable mattress really doesn't help them relax. When you get good sleep, you feel better. Your mind works better, and your body will almost surely follow.

The people at NASA knew how important comfort was for the astronauts who spent days, pretty much sitting in one spot sometimes. Fortunately, you don't have to be a space traveler now, in order to take advantage of all the benefits memory foam mattresses have to offer. You can sleep better, sleep safer and be more comfortable when all you want to do is relax.
