There are not a lot of people who can just put on weight when ever they want to. This is especially true when some one was just born with the genetics of having a fast metabolism. Cursed by both overweight and skinny people, having a fast metabolism can make it very difficult for someone to put on any weight at all. There are few misconceptions about how a skinny person should go about gaining weight. One of the most common things I see people doing is just trying to eat anything and everything that has a lot of calories in it. This is not a good move for both your health and your quest to gain weight. It can actually do you more harm than good.

You need to be eating foods that are healthy and give the body what it needs to actually product the weight instead of fat. Things like sea food and nuts which are high in protein are good for you.

You need to eat more frequently during the day. Do not sit down and gorge yourself on one or two meals a day. This tells your body that it needs to store some of it because it doesn't know when it is going to be fed again. Having a constant supply of nutrients in your stomach is much better for you and will help you gain the weight you are looking for. So eat more frequently and have less food with the portions.

Follow a program that was created by someone who used to be skinny. This is a huge factor in my opinion. How can someone who was never where you are try and teach you to gain weight. Those that have been there are much more likely to give you want you really need.

Be aware and make sure that you are not doing anything that will hurt your chances of gaining weight. You can work out hard and even eat right, but there are a handful of things that will cancel out anything you are doing and just leave you frustrated. So make sure you know what not to do.
