Apidra
Apidra (insulin glulisine) is an artificially made hormone which is naturally produced in the body of an individual. This medication is used for treating type 1 diabetes in the patient who is at-least 4 years old. This medication was manufacture by Sanofi-Aventis. It is a rapid acting insulin analogue that is different for the insulin of the human. In this insulin amino acid is replaced by the lysine and again lysine is replaced by the glutamic acid. In the patient when this medication is given as an injection it appears first into the blood in higher amount as compared to human insulin.
How Apidra works?
Apidra Insuline works by decreasing the level of the glucose present in the blood of an individual. In order to work effective this medication is prescribed along with the combination of other long- acting insulin. This medication is a fast-acting form of insulin which works very quickly and effectively than natural human insulin. This medication works effective if it is given along with proper diet and exercise.
Apidra Dosage
The dosage of Insuline (Apidra) should be given 15 minutes before having meal or 20 minutes after having meal. This medication is given as an injection under the skin with a syringe or needle. This medication should not be mixed or diluted with other insulin. The dosage of this medication should be use before 28 days.
Side effects of Apidra
All medicines can have side effects. Sometimes they are serious, most of the time they are not.
If while undergoing treatment with Apidra you experience any Apidra side-effects or symptoms which may be due to Apidra (whether or not it is mentioned below) please inform your doctor or pharmacist as early as possible. You may need medical treatment if you experience some of the side effects. The most common side effects reported are:
Hypoglycemia, low blood sugar, head-ache, nausea problem, hunger, confusion, drowsy, weak feeling, dizzy feeling, blur vision, increase heart-beat, sweating, tremor, problem to concentrate, nervousness or convulsions.
Things to be careful of:
The patient should be carefully monitored and tell the medical specialist as soon as possible if you experience unwanted side effect while using this medication.
