If you are an ebook author or owner you need a way to sell your ebook to the masses. Arguably the single most important factor in being able to sell your ebook is the ebook design cover. Why would I say that? Well I have seen a lot of ebook covers and I will expand upon what I have found. It is really all about psychology.I am currently reading a book called "Blink" by Malcolm Gladwell and it is very relevant to ebook marketing in general and ebook design specifically. The premise of Gladwell's book and its supporting material argue that we as humans are wired to make decisions and judgments on a subconscious level. Not only are these decisions made on a subconscious level but they are made instantaneously. We don't know why we don't like something by just looking at it; we just know that we don't. On the flip side of the coin, we don't know why we like something, we just do. If we are asked why we like or dislike something we don't really have an explanation and we start making things up to rationalize our feelings. So it is with ebook design. Our goal is to create an ebook cover or ecover that creates a snap judgment and a positive feeling in our potential customer. We want that feeling to be so overwhelmingly positive that they are compelled to buy our ebook to satiate that feeling. In fact, that is the goal of all advertising and billions upon billions of dollars are spent to try and create that feeling in people. Advertisers understand that if they can create that feeling in their potential customers then they have all but made the sale.So how do we create this ebook design that creates those feelings? Well that's the multi-billion dollar question isn't it? Billions upon billions have been spent figuring this stuff out. As an internet marketer you don't need to reinvent the wheel. What works for the advertising industry will work for you too. You only need to be able to analyze what is actually being done and just copy it. Since 90% of all sales on the internet are impulse buys we need to be able to generate that impulse into our visitors.Picking apart an ebook design is as easy as window shopping. You know what you like by just looking at it. In order for you to replicate those ebook designs that create positive feeling you need to be a consumer. Research your competitors in your niche. Go to their websites. Do you like there ebook design or not? It is that simple. Once you find a few that you like and generate positive feeling in you, collect them. Save them on your computer and then start to break them down analytically. What do they have in common? Is it the coloring, the graphics or photos? What is it that you are attracted to?Once you are able to dissect the ebook design into these parts you can then start to create your own design using the same process. Choose the correct color and graphics and you'll create an ebook cover that creates those buying impulses in your visitors so strong that it will be like taking candy from a baby. The rest of your sales page will just be material that supports their logical mind. You want your sales copy to validate the feeling that they have for your ebook design. When you combine the two you have a formidable ebook marketing machine.
