We see more on more programs on TV of consumers having problems with contractors that are working on their homes. Rogue traders are not very nice people especially when we see them doing an unprofessional job and overcharging vulnerable people.

Its always advised to be very careful when selecting somebody to do any type of job in your home. When it comes to your roof, as this is a vital part to your home, you simply need to make sure you have a company that is well established and comes highly recommended.

We all know that is recommended that you always ask a couple of different companies to give you a quotation for any roofing work you may require. The reason for this is that you can make sure that they are all coming in at around the same price and they all understand the work that needs to be carried out. You will find that some have high prices and will also find that some are so competitive prices are really little, which to be honest makes it quite difficult to understand who is giving you the best price and service at the same time. Weve all seen on TV or read in reports about some not so nice companies that may at first give a low estimate price only to hit you later with an unexpected surprise which brings us price up into this ridiculous bracket. This is why its always important to choose a company that are honest and can supply references of work they have the previously. It was a company that has been recommended to you this is a better position to be in. You want to make sure you make the right decision the first time and have no worries once the job started to commence.

You simply do not want to hard a roofing contractor that is offering you the cheapest price. You really need to find a legitimate professional who has the experience and qualifications to do exactly what you need. If you live there is any regulation and local authorities it is always advise to go with a company that has qualifications by the governing body. If this is not available getting recommendations is probably just as good.

Once you have made your decision you need to make sure that whatever company you choose are fully licensed and fully insured. We all know that we think can be a dangerous occupation and the last thing that you need to do is to leave yourself open to any liability by hiring a contractor who happens to be unlicensed and uninsured so you need to make sure that they have all their paperwork in place before any project commences. How do you know they have this, simple - just ask to see all their license documentation and insurance certificates.

There are always many things that you need to consider ones work has commenced. Some of the larger companies will not require you to make a deposit, some may require you to pay 10% of the full cost of the project. But, its always advised not to pay cash and make sure that you have a way of tracing back the money that has been paid. You never let payments get ahead of the work that is being done and never make the final payment until you are completely satisfied that everything is finished.
