Jester Costume Goes Modern

Multicolored. Bright. Easy to create. Less expensive. If you are looking for this type of costume, then the jester costume is what you are looking for.

The Jester's Hat is a Basic Part of the Entire Jester Costume

Odd-looking and bells are upon it, it's the jester's hat that I'm referring to. It's the most significant part of the jester costume. To make a jester's hat, utilize 12 x 18 inch pieces of EZ felt in assorted colors, such as black and white, red and blue, green and purple, and other color combination that your child prefers. You also need to purchase cloth pom-poms that come in assorted colors or those jingle bells in silver or gold colors. Always remember that a jester's color is very bright and colorful. The emphasis is on how the jester's costume presents color and geometric shapes.

Determine your child's head size and add one inch to the whole measurement. Then divide the measurement by 2. Cut one piece of the EZ felt in each color to complement the measurement. Attach the felt pieces together inside of the hat. Put it on to your child's head just to make sure that it fits. Attach the second one. But you also need to see to it that both sides are glued to the inside of the hat. When it's already dry, cut triangles at the top and attach pom-pom. Or you could also prefer to sew jingle bells to every triangle points at the top of the hat.

The Body Part Should be Colorful, Geometrical and Bright

You can cut geometric shapes from the felt. Make extended diamond shapes that ca n be sewn together with all those different colors. You can have these multicolored diamonds sewn in multiple layers which is a better ideas as it adds dimension. You can offset these diamonds so a continual collar will be formed.

When the collar is already finished, jingle bells can be sewn at the end of the diamonds as well as on the points where the top layer meet. These aids while the triangles are held down against the body. Through this, tiny tinkling sounds will also be produced while your child is walking. These can also be tacked down with a multicolored sweatshirt which you can use as the base of the costume.

If the sweatshirt is longer, you can have your child utilize it as a dress. Add it up with colorful tights like the ones with various colored bands that go up and down the leg in flashy colors.

Finally, you need a jester's wand as this accessory completes the entire jester's costume. Cut long lengths of bright colorful ribbons. Then, sew or just tie small jingle bells at one end. The other ends have to be attached or tied to a brightly painted dowel. At the end of the dowel, attach a vividly painted wooden ball and this finished the whole jester's look.
