Nashik is the gem of Maharashtra state in India. The city needs no introduction. It is the "Land Of Ram", lying on the banks of the sacred river Godavari. Nashik / Nasik is one of the four blessed cities in India where the Kumbh Mela takes place once every 12 years. The last Kumbh Mela was held in the year 2003.

The Kumbh Mela is only one feather in the cities' cap that makes it the hottest pilgrimage of India. Nashik is also known the world over as the home of Shri Ram, Sai Baba, Shani Dev. The city is embedded with innumerable temples and bathing ghats. One of the 12 Jyotirlingas (Idol of Shiva) the Trimbakeshwar is also close to Nashik.

Nashik is believed to be named after the legend from Ramayan, where Lakshman (brother of Shri Ram), chopped off the Nasika (nose) of Ravana's sister - Shurpanakha. The mythological place still exists in the Tapovan area of the city.

Nasik was suppose to be the home of Lord Ram, Sita and Lakshman for some time during their 14 years of exile. Hence the city has a good number of religious spots associated with Rama like the Ramkund, Kalaram temple, Sita gumpha etc. Similarly the ity has historic spots like the Pandav Leni caves, Chambhar Leni caves etc. The city has well known temples like the Muktidham Temple, Someshwar, Sunder Narayan temple etc. Nashik is not merely a devotees' delight the city has much more to offer. The city has natural treasures like the Dudhsagar falls, Deolali Cantonment area and the coin and science museum for the science lovers.

Though the city is of great mythological and religious importance, the industrialization and commercial development has not been left behind. The city houses many corporate giants like the Mahindra & Mahindra, VIP, Bosch etc. Nashik is also rapidly gaining name as the "Napa Valley Of India", thanks to the various wineries mushrooming in and out the city.

So over and out Nashik is a very pleasant and must see place for commercial as well as touring purposes. A visit to the city will clear all your doubts why it is known as the part of the Golden Triangle of Maharashtra.
