Choosing A Web Design Company
Choosing A Web Design Company

There are many considerations when choosing a web design company. Here are some of the things you need to look out for to make sure that you get the best possible website design for your money.

What experience have they got?

Choosing a website designer with little experience should get you a lower price but may mean that the job takes longer than expected and possibly that you don't get what you want (although start up companies may try harder, so use your judgement here).

Are they focussed on prettiness or visitors?

Graphic designers would have you believe that pretty sites work better. Sometimes that's true but often it isn't. Think of the sites you use regularly - Google, Amazon, etc. Chances are that none of them would win an award for graphic design but they serve their purpose and serve it well. Sure, your site shouldn't look plain ugly but after that it should serve your customers rather than try to confuse them with an elaborate design that you need a degree in computer science to navigate around.

How much and how soon?

Check that the price you are quoted is the price you will pay. Unless your website includes a complicated database or something similar, it shouldn't cost extra for your website to be installed on your hosting. Timescales vary but should be agreed on in advance. Obviously you need to keep your part of the bargain here - you can't blame the website designer for late delivery of your new site if you were late giving them the information to put on it or agreeing the design.
