subject: How Satellite Internet Keeps Us Connected [print this page]

It is an undeniable fact that technology is a pervasive part of our lives. We are dependent upon it for just about everything and are constantly looking for the next great device that is going to revolutionize the way we live our lives. This is why some critics argue that it has done more to harm our society than help. They insist that we no longer can do anything for ourselves, and are so obsessed with technology that it has gotten in the way of our relationships.

This may be true in some instances, but there are countless other ways in which technology has improved the quality of our lives, and in some cases, our relationships as well. One example of this is the advent of satellite internet, an extremely high-speed connection that allows for internet usage around the world. With its speed and reliability, this connection allows users to access the internet from even the most remote destinations and locales. The use of satellite technology means that the connection is able to travel further and faster than any internet connection before.

It is because of this ability to be used globally that satellite internet is so vital to keeping us connected to friends and family. When I was in college and all of my friends went to study abroad in Europe, I was able to stay up to date on their travels through instant messaging and several services that allow you to place actual phone calls through the internet. It wasnt for this satellite internet broadband capability, I never would have been able to stay in touch with my friends and hear about their travels and adventures.

Similarly, I am now the one living in a foreign country, and the experience would be much more difficult if I wasnt able to stay in touch with my friends and family back in the States. My friends are always eager to hear about my life abroad, and I receive countless instant messages and emails from them everyday asking about my latest adventures. My parents and I have a standing weekly video call that we place through the internet, and we would not be able to do this without an advanced satellite connection. It is truly a remarkable feat of technology that I can be in my room in Argentina, and see their faces thousands of miles away in San Francisco.

Without this ability to access a satellite broadband connection, I would feel entirely cut off from life back at home. Technology may certainly have its evils, but we must not forget that it aids us as well. The advanced communication technology that allows people on opposite sides of the globe to communicate is undeniably invaluable and important. As technology continues to advance and there are more cutting-edge developments, I can only hope that they truly enhance our lives in a similar manner. Staying connected to the people that you love should be a priority, and anything that makes such a task easier can only be seen as a positive development.
