Musician Marketing Plan: No1 Marketing in the Music Industry

I have one rule for any musician marketing plan that I write and it's that it must be really simple to understand and fast complete everyday.

Most bands will try and be all over facebook and twitter, and every other social network out there. But they are not able to master the promotional opportunities for any of them.

It's you job to pick an online fan source like facebook or YouTube and then work with it everyday until you get some good marketing skills and build momentum.

In this article I'm going to show you how to get massive traffic on YouTube that will easily get you a big following if you really commit to it everyday.

I call this the YouTube Fan Transfer!

Here we go.

1. First of all you need to find successful bands that really sound like you. And I mean really! ( We do this because their fans will be much more likely to get into your stuff. This saves wasted marketing effort.)

2. Sing up for a YouTube and Google reader account.

3. Set up google alerts so that it sends every bit of information on the bands you found to your google reader automatically.

4. When you hear that one of the bands has a new song coming out be the first on YouTube to do a cover of it.

5. Make sure you put your website address in the video.

6. Collect email addresses on your website.

7. Send you new fans cool stuff that will make them love you.

8. Post a video everyday. MOST IMPORTANT!

This works because as the other bands start to have their million dollar promotion companies pimp their new track all over the web, music fans will flood online to find information about it and be interested to see that you have done a cover.

So that's the music marketing out the way... now you can focus on what real musicians do and work on creating the best music possible.

Good luck.
