Michael Jackson Thriller was the number one selling album of all time and was the sixth album that was put out by Michael Jackson. Epic records released this album in November of nineteen eighty two. Thriller followed another famous album Off the wall which was released in 1979.
Within off the wall and thriller Jackson went through a lot of changes. Around this time Jackson was having a lot of family problems. Inclusive of his father going through an affair with another woman that was twenty years younger than him and also having a child with the same woman, and then later telling his family about it.
Thriller made Jackson one of the most renowned people in the twentieth century and this allowed him to break some barriers of racial people. Some of the reasons he was able to break the racial barrier that people held was because of his meeting with Ronald Regan at the White house. The album and song was one of the first to make famous the Use of Music videos to promote songs.
Thriller is a lot like the album off the wall because it follows genres like funk and disco. To characterize thrillers lyrics I would have to say they are like experiencing paranoia and the supernatural.
Thriller was also preserved to the National Library of Congress and they deemed it "Culturally significant". Jackson's other album off the wall was a huge success but not as largely known as Thriller although it did receive favorable reviews just like thriller.
In a little over a year the album "Thriller" became the number one selling album of all time. And up to this very day still remains the number one album of all time. The sales of Thriller were estimated to be at seventy to one hundred and ten million tracks in the united states. This record won a record breaking eight Grammies in nineteen eighty four.
