The dream of finding a good horse racing system that will pick winners automatically and enable you to quit your day time job is a dream that many people have had since the earliest days of horse racing. Imagine getting up in the morning and scanning the past performances and then making a few simple calculations and circling the horses you will bet for the day. Picture yourself going to the race track or OTB parlor and walking out a few hours later with a pocket full of cash. Sounds great, doesn't it?
Unfortunately, that makes good advertising copy for people who make ridiculous claims about methods of picking winners at the horse races, but the simple and sometimes painful truth is that it is very hard to make any profit betting on horses. The people who really do accomplish that Herculean feat usually work very hard at it and have their ups and downs. That's the bad news.
The good news is that they do use systems. When I say that they use them, however, I don't mean that they bought something and read it and instantly started making money at the horse track. I mean that they studied handicapping and read as much as they could on the subject and probably bought their fair share of systems along the way.
They took those methods apart and used parts of them along with their own experience to patch together a method of wagering and selecting horses that would show a profit. Many of these people use a key horse to cash on a big exotic wager. Sometimes one or two big scores will be their profit for the year. While there are some people who grind it out and steadily make a profit, that is a very difficult way to make a living betting on horses.
Whichever method you use, you will have to take several horse racing systems and try them and learn how to use them. Then you'll have to put them together in such a way as to find the right bets that suit your bankroll and style. That takes time and patience and it also means that you will wind up with your very own unique way of doing things. If you expect someone to sell you a method that makes a profit right out of the box, you're going to be disappointed.
However, if you're honest with yourself and have reasonable expectations and will work at developing your own style with several systems that you buy, you may be one of the few people who actually does show a profit betting on horses.
