Lenovo Unveils New Energy-Efficient ThinkVision Monitors

Lenovo, one of the leadingmanufacturersof consumer portable computer systems, has recently announced the introduction of the latest additions to its ThinkVision lineup of computer monitors. According to the company, the new models have been designed to deliver a new level of energy-efficiency, as compared to current PC displays available on the market.

"During past PC/Monitorrefreshcycles, the ability to cut down energy costs was associated with the transition from power-hungry CRTs to less energy consuming LCD monitors," said Chris Connery, vice president, PC and Large Format Commercial Displays, DisplaySearch. "The reduction in power consumption by new displays such as Lenovo's new LCD ThinkVision monitors is significant in terms of the potential longer term effect on the environment. Lenovo has certainly taken a leadership position in introducing the most robust line of energy-efficient LCD monitors that the industry has seen to date."

The new line-up includes the flagship ThinkVision L2440x Wide monitor, Lenovo's first 24-inch, low-halogen display that provides up to 225 percent more workareathan many ultraportable notebook screens2. Using highly efficient White LED backlighttechnology, the L2440x Wide requires only 29 watts of power to operate3. In addition to providing exceptional picture quality, the L2440x Wide is mercury and arsenic free for a safer computing experience in environments such as offices, stores, classrooms and homes.

Lenovo's latest ThinkVision monitors boast new and enhanced features, such as:

* A new display design on select models uses LCD light more efficiently, decreasing the number of light tubes in each monitor without impacting picture quality.

* A new ergonomic stand is available on select models to provide customizable heights, pivot and swivel options with a stable base, so the monitors do not tip or shake and can comfortably fit in any work space. The new stand also provides an improved enclosure design that enables quick set-up and streamlined cable management.

* New environmentally-responsiblepackagingfor the ThinkVision L2240p Wide, L2440p Wide and L2440x Wide monitors consists of 65 percent recycled materials that are 100 percent recyclable.

The Lenovo ThinkVision family is the most robust line-up of environmentally-rated monitors, designed to offer customers moreopportunitiesto reduce their carbon footprint without compromising functionality. The new Lenovo ThinkVision monitors meet criteria regarding product longevity, material selection, end-of-life management and more to maintain a "Gold" rating according to the Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT), a system that helpspurchasersevaluate PC products based on their environmental attributes. The new ThinkVision monitors have passedextensiveGREENGUARD testing for more than 2,000 chemical emissions including carcinogens, allergens and irritants.

The company's new flagship L2440x wide monitor has become Lenovo's first 24-inch, low-halogen display that provides up to 255 percent more work area, compared to other 12.1-inch and 13.3-inch ultra-portable notebooks, with displays that can output a maximum resolution of 1280 x 800. Furthermore, the new 24-inch flagship model also comes with efficient White LED technology and requires only 29 watts of power.

pricing and availability, the company announced that the new ThinkVision L1700p would be available worldwide from September 19 directly from Lenovo or from its business partners. The ThinkVision L1940 will only be available in Europe starting from September 19, while the other models will become available worldwide at the beginning of October. Pricing will start from $239.99 and $749.99 for the ThinkVision L1700p and ThinkVision L2440x Wide.
