Kean University is Graduates Most Teachers in New Jersey Annually

A coeducational and public liberal arts as well as research institution, Kean University is located in the Union Township of New Jersey in United States. Graduating most number of teachers in the state annually, the university has already earned name and fame in the country and abroad.

Brief Background

Founded in the year 1855 in Newark in the state of New Jersey, it was known as the Newark Normal School. Pronounced objective of the school was imparting teacher-education and thus it became the State Teachers College in New Jersey in 1937. It graduated to State College status in 1959 and started offering a full range of majors. Kean College acquired university status in 1977. Today, it is the third largest educational institutions in New Jersey.

Campus

Original Campus was moved from Newark to the Union Township in 1958. Liberty Hall where it is located was named as Kean College in 1973. While the Union Township hosts the main campus across 121.5 acres of land and Liberty Hall Campus across 28.5 acres while the East Campus of 35.4 acres is located in Hillside. Additional campuses have been set up in Ocean County, New Jersey, Toms River and also in People's Republic of China.

University Colleges

Kean University hosts six colleges in all, namely Business and Public Administration College;College of Education;College of Natural, Applied and Health Science;College of Humanities and Social Sciences;College of Visual and Performing Arts; andNathan Weiss Graduate College.

In addition; the university also hosts 13 schools affiliated to these colleges.

Well Known Programs

Programs for which the university is well known includes Humanities;Physical therapy program;Social Science; andEducation.

Among the above programs, the physical therapy program is conducted in conjunction with the University of Medicine and Dentistry in the state. Overall the university offers 36 graduate as well as 48 undergraduate programs.

University Ranking

Kean University has been ranking in Tier 1 institution by the U.S News and World Report pretty consistently. Time magazine also has ranked it as one of the five best diverse colleges in 2011.

Last but not the least; the university offers extensive facilities and opportunities for budding sportsmen in multiple streams of athletics, games, and sports. It has national ranking in football, baseball, and women's basketball.
