How the front of a store looks has a major impact on whether or not those passing by it decide whether or not to walk in and take a closer look. Therefore, it is important to ensure that your presentation and signage convey a positive image. It is worth investing in this part of your store as much as you invest in the inside of your store, as you will not reap the full benefits of a fantastic looking inner store if the outside of it does not create a good impression on potential customers. You should display a large, clear professionally made sign outside of your store. It should be large enough and clear enough to be easily read from the opposite side of the road to where your store is located. If your business name does not make it obvious what your store sells then you should also include a tagline on your sign which says what type of products or services you offer. Signs inevitably start to become dirty over time so you need to be sure to clean yours every month or so, as a dirty looking sign gives a bad impression to customers. After signage, your window space is the next thing that you need to get right. A nice touch, which you should definitely consider, is to fit an awning over you window space. Victorian awnings provide a few noteworthy benefits. They provide cover for those looking inside your window, they keep rain off your window, and they make your storefront stand-out from those along the rest of the street. As for the window space itself, you need to find the balance between advertising and not overly bombarding people with information. Displaying your best selling products in your store window makes sense. Also, try to include a few that are not available elsewhere in your town. As for the arrangement of the products, there is no strict rules because it really depends on what exactly you are selling. If you are stuck for ideas then take a walk around a large town near you and take some photos of the store windows of stores that sell similar items to you. If lots of other stores are taking a certain approach then you can not go far wrong by doing something similar. Your storefront should look special and enticing all year round. Make it change with the seasons, holidays and events that are taking place in the area where your store is. Changing displays draws attention to your store, and causes passers-by to stop to see what the latest window display looks like. A store that frequently changes it look and shows creativity is a real crowd pleaser. It is a great advertising tool - a great attention getter - and it is an opportunity to get new customers that you should not overlook.
