These days, news begins to swirl that Microsoft Streetside is to take street-level pictures and its Bing Maps photo will go up against Google Street View in the UK.
Just a few days ago, Google Street View announced its decision on stopping any updates of online photos. Then Microsoft Streetside started taking photos in London, these 360-degree photos have been taken by Streetside cars, which are provided by Navteq.
Navteq is a Chicago, Illinois-based provider of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data and is a dominant company in providing the base electronic navigable maps. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Nokia but operates independently.
According to Microsoft, the Streetside cars have started to drive around London's downtown areas, and will move to other areas across the UK.
But it seems that no fears should be paid for invasion of privacy, cause Microsoft has announced its determination on respecting personal privacy.
"We accept requests to blur or remove images of faces or persons, homes, cars, acts of violence, nudity and unlawful material. Depending on the content of the pictures we may remove it entirely, blur a portion of it or take no action if no identifying features remain visible." Microsoft told in a statement.
Brothersoft thinks highly of Microsoft's attitude towards privacy protecting. All of us should show enough respect for individual privacy.
