Chesterfield furniture is made for everyday living

The term couch is a generic term that the people of North America, Australia, and New Zealand use for a piece of furniture that is made to seat more than one person. The seating has to have armrests on both sides, normally found in a living room, den or a lounge. These pieces of furniture would ideally be covered mostly in a fabric such as velvet or leather. Traditional furniture or antiqued furniture in the UK would be termed as a settee or sofa, the word sofa being a definition taken from an Arabic word suffa'. The North Americans used the term Chesterfield many years ago to refer to a couch or sofa and some people amongst the older generations of Canadians still use the term, but it is quickly vanishing. In the United Kingdom people recognise Chesterfield as a city or refer to it as a style of antiqued furniture. Chesterfield furniture has moved on over the years, the style of the furniture remains as a sofa featuring a low rolled back with beautiful deep buttoning securing the fabric into its wooden frame. An apartment with a more modern interior may not be able to have the space required for a full Chesterfield suite. A Chesterfield sofa may be more appropriate either in leather or a modern velvet fabric or a mix of both fabrics depending on the dcor. Traditional Chesterfield furniture made in the best leather looks impressive with their deep leather colours in a lounge of a Victorian or Edwardian house. Cottages are normally associated with small three piece sofas. Today, with the modern styling and designs of chesterfield furniture, a Chesterfield sofa with a Chesterfield chair can tempt to you to snuggle up in a living room of a cottage. At Chesterfield 1780 we have wonderful range of Chesterfield furniture in a wide range of styles and fabrics.
