Cleaning your horse's tack is essential you and your horse's safety. All the great riders and professionals in all the horse-related sports regularly clean their tack. Cleaning your horse's tack can be time eating and boring at the same time. So play some music while you do it to make it a little more inviting. If you regularly clean your tack, you will notice even the slightest damage that may have occurred whilst riding your horse before they can cause any kind of trouble. These are the things you need in cleaning your tack:
One bucket
Rags
Sponges
Saddle soap
Bridle hook and a saddle horse (not really needed, but recommended)
Pen and note pad (if you cannot remember the holes in which everything is one, write down everything)
If you cannot remember the hole your stuff is supposed to be in, run through everything then take note of it all prior to oiling and cleaning. Place your list in a dry spot so you can refer to it when you start putting your things together.
You could either opt to utilize hot water or saddle soap. Some professionals prefer saddle soap. Utilize whatever you would like to use, but make sure it has good quality and would not do harm.
The first thing you need to do is to clean your tack. If you are using hot water, then get some water, a sponge and a rag. Clean everything while pulling it all apart. A nice tip is to ensure that your sponge or rag for oiling is place them separately from your sponge and rag used for water. Make sure that you reach and clean underneath all the buckles, and make sure you also clean underneath the keepers. Do not overlook the creases. Put all the bits of your bridle in a single pile, and all the other bits of your other bridle in another pile. Continue doing this until you have finished cleaning all of your tack using saddle soap or hot water.
In order to cleanse your bits, put them inside a bucket filled with hot water. Leave it to soak for a while, making the gunk and grass come away easy with your sponge or rag. There should not be too much gunk on your bit as you are supposed to be washing it every after you ride.
