4 Registry Cleaner Fallacies Revealed

Has anyone ever told you that you need a registry cleaner? Maybe you went to a website and it mentioned registry cleaners. You may even know a little bit about them. But the chances are you have run into some of the common myths surrounding the software and don't even know it.

Myth #1 - All Registry Cleaners are the Same

On the surface, all registry cleaners are the same. They all guarantee to fix registry related errors and make your computer faster. But that is where the similarities end.

Some cleaners are complex programs that have you set all kinds of functions and have you decide which errors need to be fixed and which ones don't. Others simplify the process and scan, diagnose and repair all the errors for you. All you have to do is click fix errors or something to that effect.

For the vast majority of people, the simple click and fix method is best. After all, not many people know the difference between a runtime error and a DLL error.

Myth #2 - You Only Need to Clean the Registry When You Get an Error Message

This myth falls under the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality. While it makes sense for other things, it does not quite apply to computers. Your computer is designed to run even with errors. By the time you see an error, many things had to go wrong.

A registry cleaner can fix errors before they become a problem. This way you won't ever have to worry about errors popping up.

Myth #3 You Don't Need a Registry Cleaner to Optimize Your PC

Well, technically this is true. You do not need a registry cleaner to optimize your computer if you know what you are doing. However, how many people really know how to change what programs load on start up?

Do you even know how to access the startup dialog box?

And once in there, do you even know which ones are safe to stop and which ones need to stay put?

If you shut off the wrong one, do you know how to start it again?

A registry cleaner makes all this easy. You can just select "Tuner" and all the programs appear. Then you just click the program and click "disable selected." Nothing could be simpler.

Myth #4 You Only Use a Registry Cleaner Once

Our thought process says that once an error is fixed, we won't need to use a registry cleaner anymore. Therefore, we are reluctant to purchase a year's license just for a one-time deal. But that is not how your registry works.

Every time you get on the computer, you change your registry. Each program you run, each website you visit, and each file you print changes the registry. More registry errors are bound to happen. In fact, if you run a registry cleaner every week for a year, then every week for a year, you will find registry errors!
