The Lion King has been a roaring success on the West End since it first opened in 1999 at the Lyceum Theatre. When he accidently encounters Nala, his childhood friend, she tells him that the Pride Lands are in a terrible and decayed state under the rule of Scar. At first reluctant, Simba is eventually persuaded to return to Pride Rock and fight for his kingdom. There he succeeds in defeating Scar and takes his rightful place, with Nala by his side, as The Lion King.
