Slut and Decent Dresses
Slut and Decent Dresses

A controversy arose from the comments of one of the Police personnel in Toronto,Canada suggesting the girls to avoid Slut dresses' while moving in public in order to reduce sexual onslaught. As per the report some thousands of protesters marched to register their strong objections among them a sizable numbers wearing slut dresses some of them having a placard declaring "Just because I am slut does not mean that I want to be raped." They might like to express that whatever they wear is not the lookout of the police, who are supposed to protect them from the sexual onslaught if it comes on the way!

Probably we are moving through a period when any comment, whatever suggested, create a stir like this and makes such extra ordinary and dangerous situation.

In my view,we select and wear dresses so as to present ourselves in a decent manner and most importantly it should be acceptable to the others around us. There may be some unwritten codes regarding which part of the body is to be covered etc. apart from the fact that it should not obstruct our activities for which we are around. For example,a swim suit or an athlete's dress is perfectly all right at there respective places ,but they are not decent and may be frowned upon when people move with similar dress in public places, like offices etc..

The present trend is probably different. It looks like that the modern dresses tends to be attractive by making it more and more sexy and often goes to the undefined borderline of should and should not. This state of affair is probably because of the intense competition among the fashion designers, organizers of fashion shows and the compulsion of the introduction of newer styles by different marketeers.

However the subject is highly controversial which may invite further provocation. I would like to draw conclusion with the following

World is a stage! Come ,walk on its ramp.

With decent, bad, ugly or no dress - nobody care a damn.

Come baby! have whatever you dare,

From Bourke to B. day suit make your choice, dear!
