Things have changed as formatting with Windows Vista and Windows 7 is a lot different to formatting with windows XP. Of course there are similar aspects such as needing the original operating system CD to start the formatting process, but there are a few big differences.

How to format your computer in 2011?

1. You will need to place your operating system DVD into your DVD drive. Windows XP operating system comes on a CD and Windows Vista and Windows 7 come on a DVD.

2. The setup files will be loaded when you start your computer and boot to the operating system CD. This applies full for all versions of Windows. When the computer restarts you do not have to do anything. This means that you should not touch the keyboard.

3. You will be prompted to enter a few questions but I will explain the hardest part, which is to delete the old partition where Windows was previously installed.

7. You will have to answer some questions and fill out a few forms and maybe enter your serial number. Then the computer will restart and you will have a fresh copy of Windows on your computer.

8. The next step is to install your programs you want on your computer, set up your e-mail, and possibly install drivers.
