Texas Health Plans - There are Options

No one ever likes to think of the worst. No one ever likes to think that we could ever be seriously injured or suffer from a deadly disease. We like to think that we will be happy and healthy forever. This is not the case. At any time we run risk of being in a car accident, contracting heart disease or cancer, or becoming a victim of a violent crime. Anything can happen, so it is best to prepared. There's no state to be better prepared than Texas where they rank last for a lack of insurance. There is lots of coverage out there. Are you brave enough to look into a health plan?

If you're shopping for a health plan for you and you are employed, then you don't need to worry about shopping for a plan. Your employer should have group insurance coverage for you and other employees. You are only required to pay half of your employer's coverage. If you are self employed or employed (in addition to just wanting your own insurance) you can purchase an individual plan, but beware. Texas health insurance can exclude preexisting conditions and maternity. If you have dependents (husband, wife, children) they are included in your company's insurance coverage. Again, if this isn't satisfactory, you can purchase individual or family health insurance.

Another option is Medicaid and Medicare which works like regular insurance. Low income families and children, cash assistance recipients, the elderly and disabled, Medicare beneficiaries, non citizens, and women are eligible. The Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) covers Texans under the age of 18 who are permanent legal residents or are United States Citizens. If you are under the age of 65 and have or areas legal resident of Texas for 30 days and a United States citizen or permanent resident for 3 consecutive years, you can enter a Texas high risk pool. In order to be eligible for entrance in the high risk pool, you must have proof of rejection by an insurance company or a preexisting condition.

Navigating the health insurance system can be difficult. To determine what policy is right for you, speak with an insurance agent, company, or search online. No one wants to believe they can be harmed, terminally ill, or really sick. However, it can happen. No one wants to live with tragic events like these but it happens. The best way to combat it is to be prepared. Everyone in Texas should look at health insurance plans.
