subject: What's An Appropriate Activity For Christian Preschool? [print this page]

Young children have an amazing ability to absorb information and accumulate knowledge, provided that all of this newfound information is presented in an age- appropriate fashion. This is why responsible teachers try to make learning an activity in Christian preschools, much the same way as they would in any other school. To teach the stories of the Bible, teachers might involve puppet shows to engage the children in the story and allow them a chance to ask questions.

Small children learn best when they can interact with the information in a way that is entertaining but not overly complex. It is important to hold their attention to ensure that they are absorbing most or all of the new knowledge that is being offered to them.

Another common activity at a Christian preschool is story time. A talented storyteller brings the characters to life and leaves the listener wanting to hear more about them. Learning becomes fun and exciting for the children rather than another arduous task like eating all of their vegetables! Many children will ask to hear their favorite stories repeatedly, allowing further learning through repetition.

Bring Mom and Dad in on the Fun

The responsibilities of parenthood extend far beyond providing food and shelter to a young child. Parents decide what religion to bring their children up in, what sort of morals they learn, and they even influence how liberal or conservative their political views become in the future. A parent must also be involved in their child's intellectual life, constantly offering them a chance to take part in things similar to the activity in Christian preschool that the children take part in with their teachers. This keeps learning going even after school is over and the children head home.

Since parents are the number one source of the values instilled in their children, it is vital that they remain engaged with their child, fostering their education and understanding of the world. Deciding to involve them in the activity at Christian preschools in one of many decisions that parents take seriously when deciding on the best course of education for their child. Proper education very early on can set up the child for academic success later in life. A child whose desire to learn has already been sparked by the engaging activity of Christian preschool is more likely to carry the enjoyment of learning throughout their academic career.

You may however also want to talk to your family and friends and see what they have experienced with their children, so that you can get firsthand opinions.
