subject: Avoiding False Internet Marketing Schemes [print this page] Avoiding False Internet Marketing Schemes
Well since you made it this far I can safely assume that you want to know how you can go about avoiding Internet marketing scams. That was exactly how I felt not so very long ago, but now I have the answer.
First of all you need to stop and think how you avoid scams in your day to day life:-
Sounds too good to be true - It is!
Promises Instant wealth - It is not possible
There is no such thing as a free gift! - They are sweeteners for what follows
Act now or the offer is withdrawn - They are pressuring you to avoid you checking them out
Price rises tomorrow - They are pressuring you to avoid you checking them out
High pressure sales often means the products appear to lack value - They do
If it feels like a scam- It is
OK you get the general idea there are many underhanded sales practices in everyday marketing, well these apply in the Internet world only you can lose a lot more money a lot faster! So watch out.
I have looked at many offerings and the problem with a lot is that they include some elements of multi level marketing. This means that only those that get in early will ever make any real money often times such schemes pay as much as 80% of the money to the top 5% of the members, and the structure and mathematics of the scheme ensure it stays that way.
Many of the schemes rely on techniques such as neuro linguistic programming in order to control the customers buying response, if that sounds unethical to you, that is because it is! A word of warning here many countries are starting to link Human Rights legislation to consumer law, this means that if a person is unknowingly discriminated against in anyway, the transaction is void at law, and the vendor may be liable for damages.
Any budding scam artists should be careful as the law does not always catch up with changes to technology until long after the change (legal drag effect), however there is always an audit trail! Remember that if you can find the customer and he can find you that link can be traced and the law enforcement agencies will do so whenever there is sufficient reason to feel that a crime has been committed.
Thankfully for me I have found a way to avoid all of these issues and it is one that you could follow too. I have aligned myself with a reputable organization on the Internet, and you can too.
Perform enough searches and read articles like this, join forums on Internet marketing and see what people are saying, but approach with care as many of them are trying to sell you on their products. Check the reviews use Google and Yahoo and then opt for a mentor that lets you see what they have to offer gives a set price that will be the same tomorrow, one that does not pressure you to decide today, one that lets you learn at your pace. Choose one where you know you will be able to get mentor-ship from all the members, including the founders, one that is already ranked highly by its members. Then be like a horse, only allow yourself to be ridden (used fairly) never controlled (ask any dressage rider if you are not sure what I mean!) - The horse is 7 to 8 times the weight of the average rider, so if it decides you are not going to ride it. you are not.
If you read understand and follow this advice I do not believe that you will be caught up in any scams.
