subject: Let Me Entertain You [print this page] Let Me Entertain You Let Me Entertain You
"Let me entertain you", this is the motto of the day!
I love to sit, relax and view a good movie, NCIS, CSI or something on the television. But alas, "Reality Shows" are taking over. Just when I thought I had seen and heard it all, there is one called Silent Library.
Six teenagers play for money that will be divided equally among them. The key to winning is keeping silent in the library even though they are put through horrific tortures. Through the single draw of a card one to five of them are singled out to be guinea pigs. Then the torture begins.
One time six girls had to eat spaghetti and meatballs prepared with play dough. Naturally all of them got sick and threw up. Trash cans are nearby (guess the producers knew that would happen) but the key is to throw up quietly. If you are not quiet - no money!
Another time six teen boys are playing. Their torture: A wheel of Barbie doll legs is set up, one of the boys has been singled out to stand with his chin next to the wheel and it spins and hits the boy on his chin. It hurt my chin just to watch. On another occasion another boy was singled out to stand in front of a ship's steering wheel as it is turned. I will let you just imagine where those spokes land as they come around, OUCH! Remember, he has to suffer in silence or no money.
Are we in such an entertainment crazed society that we call this entertainment!
Maybe it is the money. Are we so in need of money that we will do anything to get it? I would say it is a sad world we live in when we would put ourselves through torture for a few dollars and a moment of fame. What is sadder, people seem to derive pleasure from watching their fellow man make idiots of themselves. Enough said, and I am not going to say, tune in sometime! I think you are too intelligent and have better things to do with your time.
