Microsoft PowerPoint is electronic presentation software that has been created by Microsoft as a part of the Microsoft suite of office products. PowerPoint software has become necessary for most corporations to prepare presentations for a day to day meeting or a meeting at regular weekly intervals. Most projects are monitored by a project management report which is usually presented in the form of Microsoft PowerPoint.

PowerPoint software was actually bought by Microsoft from Forethought, the initial creators of PowerPoint in 1987.Since becoming a part of the Microsoft family PowerPoint has grown in leaps and bounds over the last 2 decades. Some of the major releases of PowerPoint software actually coincided with the major release of the Office software suite. In the recent past some of the major versions that have been released include Powerpoint97, PowerPoint2000, Powerpoint2003, Powerpoint2007 and the latest PowerPoint2010.

In the latest version of PowerPoint, users have the ability to add screenshots and attach them to documents. Capabilities for special effects have been added, such as pencil effects. PowerPoint Presentation software actually consists of a series of separate slides which are then made to run together. The main process in creating a PowerPoint presentation is the preparation of the individual slides. The individual slides can be created from a blank page or can be created from a template.

There are a number of PowerPoint templates that are available for various business purposes. Based on the type of presentation prepared, the users can select a template. When creating the presentation slide, the user has to select the type of template, and then all subsequent slides will be formatted in the same manner. This includes the design patterns in the slide and also any headers and footers. The users only have to create the text within each and every slide.

In addition to text, users can also include images, videos and animations as a part of the slide. These videos and animations actually get embedded as file objects within the slide and an instance gets opened when the user tries to open the file.

After creating all the slides, the user has to sequentially arrange the slides. By default all the slides are arranged in their order of creation. If the user wants to change the order they can vary the order of the slides. Now the user can save all the slides as a single PowerPoint file. When the user opens the PowerPoint file, the first slide comes up and then the user can navigate through the subsequent slides. When the presentation progresses, the slides change and this change can be made to happen with a custom animation.
