I had someone put in a new sump pump. I don't even think the old system had a check valve, but he put one in on the new system, which should be done. The new sump worked fine, but we began to notice after it finished its cycle there were two loud "clunks". Which after some investigation and research I found it was the check valve closing, then the pressure in there making a "water hammer" clunk. When you stood in the basement by the sump pump it didn't sound that bad. But it actually sounded worse as you went to the ground floor and 2nd floor as it echoed up there. It wasn't extremely bad. Bareable, but not desireable. I made mention of this to the guy who installed it. He told me he put in a good quality check valve, but I could tell he didn't seem to know as much on this topic. So I researched on my own and found this one online, purchased it and asked him to install it for me. He seemed a little skeptical, but said he'd try it. It is awesome. There is barely a sound when it shuts now. I love it. So glad I found it.
I had a seriously loud water hammer problem in my sump pump pipes. I installed this valve about 2 feet above the pump, and it solved my problem completely. No sound at all now! The valve is designed for inch and a half PVC, so I glued a short piece of PVC onto each end, and then used adapters to transition to my 1 1/4 PVC. Worth the cost!
I had a valve that clunked so bad it would shake the house. Replaced it with this one and absolutely no noise. One thing, when I installed it I reused the rubber clamp-able sleeves from my old valve. Just glue in some straight PVC into the ends of the quiet valve. Cost more than standard valves but much heavier and QUIET. Fast ship and great price from Amazon as usual.
