September 8, 2009, Tirunellveli(TN):On the first day of his Tamil Nadu tour, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi had an interactive meeting with fishermen in Nagercoil(Tamil Nadu) and listened to their grievances. This meeting was held in local Scot Christian College . Congress General Secretary is on his three day tour to Tamil Nadu. Nagercoil is an important town in the southernmost part of Tamil Nadu and it also functions as the headquarter of Kanyakumari district. Due to closeness to sea, there is a sizable population of fishermen in Nagercoil and Congress General Secretary's visit is meant to have a first hand account of their problems.
After Nagercoil, Congress General Secretary visited Tirunellveli where he interacted with Youth Congress workers in Century Hall. He had a discussion with the party workers to improve the performance of Congress party in the state. He also had a meeting with women engaged in Bidi manufacturing industry, Self Help Group women and girl students in Saratucker Senior Secondary High School in Tirunelveli.
During this visit, Congress General Secretary will hold interactive sessions with different sections of society across the state.
