Small business web site design doesn't have to be difficult.
There are many small businesses, Mom & Pop stores and local businesses that need a site but manyforgocreating one because they feel it may be too difficult to accomplish on their own or far too expensive to hire someone to do it for them.
It's actually quite easy to do and all that it takes is a little bit of "know how".
That's what we'll cover in this article.
First there are two ways to create a website.
You can create a "static" site which is a site that doesn't generally change very frequently.
Essentially this type of site comprises of a few web pages which give details about your company, how you can contact you, what products you have to offer, and so on.
This type of site is referred to as a "static" web site because the content of the site will rarely change.
There may be a few price updates to your products or newsletter updates, but other than that, the content itself will rarely change.
Luckily, you don't have to start from scratch if you decide to go this route.
Once you decide to get a site up and running, you'll be happy to know that many hosting companies offer free templates that you can then download to your own computer, edit and then upload to your site.
And they make it relatively easy for you to do.
Additionally, there are products such as XSitePro which come with a whole host of templates that you can use and they've created the program in such a way that if anything was truly "newbie proof", XSitePro is it.
Next, you can use a blog format as the basis for your site.
Blogs are great ways to get a site up and jogging quickly and take very little skill to learn.
Blogs are quickly becoming the norm' when it comes to creating websites simply because they are so easy to install and manage.
And with the choices you have today with blogs on your site, you CAN in fact, create a static site out of a blog.
Again, most web hosting companies give you the option of creating a blog on your site for free and it's usually with a click of a couple of buttons.
The only downside to using a blog on your site is because it IS a blog, people will expect you to update it more regularly than they would a typical static site.
It's a little bit of a catch-22 situation because search engines like Google love content, and they love fresh content.
When you use a blog, you'll generally find that you're adding new and fresh content on a fairly regular basis (I suggest at least once a week) and this will help your overall search engine rankings.
Blogs however, are extremely easy to update, install and maintain and are usually the easiest option when you're considering creating a brand new site.
Overall, creating your own website online is usually extremely easy.
Take your time to get to know what options are available to you and the amount of time you have to work on your site and this will help make your decision easier.
