In Praise of Medical Waste Disposal
In Praise of Medical Waste Disposal

It is so good to just know you do not have to take care of certain things. To know that certain, nasty tasks are in the hands of people that are not you can feel like such a relief when you really think about it. My grandfather for example used to work in a sewage treatment plant. It was thankless gross work and it was hard to imagine what he went through. He used to say: "It's waste to you, but it's my bread and butter." Obviously in his older vernacular the word "waste" was something unprintable, but you get the point. It is great to know we have people doing the "dirty work" and that they are just happy to have the work. Medical waste management is definitely a field I am happy someone else has decided to take care of. It seems nasty and as a bit of a germaphobe I am so glad it is not on me to unload the medical waste of the world.Think about the dangers in medical waste removal. If any chemicals, bodily fluids or anything else makes contact with you it really could be lights out. That is scary and thankfully there are a number of companies that provide professional and safe medical waste services. If these folks don't do their job right there could be a serious problem. A problem as small as getting a few people ill or as large as a full on regional outbreak. Maybe I am a bit of an alarmist but I have a lot of anxiety about the improper disposal of medical waste. It could really spell trouble for a city or community.Medical waste removal is a really valuable service to offer our society. Just think a hundred years ago we did not even realize this was something we might be concerned about. Waste management in general was in shambles. Luckily with the advances in both medicine and general sanitation services medical waste management has become a field with its own rules and guidelines, that is safe and helps keep us all from having to come into contact with the nastier parts of the healing process. So I would like to take this article to thank all of the fine folks in medical waste management. You do the dirty work so we don't have to. It is an exceptional thing to take on and it is my hope that you are all rewarded handsomely for your commitment to the safe disposal of medical waste.
