Scrapbooking Your Cruise Memories
At ShipOuts.com, we love to Scrapbook! There are many ways to pull together fabulous spreads to capture your cruise memories...
Be sure to pack a thick plastic "memory folder" for storing your various memory scraps. First day of cruise, place it on the counter in a dry area of your cabin. At the end of each day, add all your keepsakes to the folder. Pack it on the top of your suitcase when departing. Once home, all your memory "scraps" will be dry, unwrinkled, and in an organized folder ready for your use! Then reuse the folder on your next cruise!
Save everything that might add to a memory and put in your "memory folder!" Whether it be a ticket stub, receipt, postcard, kids' craft project, room cards, etc...it could be added to a spread in your future album! Especially the ship's daily newsletters will give perfect lists of all you enjoyed during the cruise!
Pack a nice quality notebook and scrapbook pens to leave near your memory keeper folder. Encourage each other to write down their "favorites of the day" each night while winding down in the cabin. What a fun way to capture thoughts while they are fresh. Plus having notes in everyone's own writing adds a personal touch...especially if it is a note written by your first grader!
Take your camera with you everywhere you go...Even just a trip to the buffet for lunch might offer a photo-op you won't want to miss.
Be sure to pack underwater cameras to capture all your wet and wild adventures on film as well!
You packed those cameras so take time for photos! No matter how bad your clan complains each time you read for the camera, they will love looking back at your chronicles later.
Ask ship staffers and other passengers to take your pictures often...so everyone makes the album even the Scrapbooker!
Look for brochures and pamphlets stands on the ship. You might find FREE and COLORFUL pages showing detailed text and pictures of your ship, excursions, and ports of call. Take several of each! These can be persevered whole or cropped into scrapbook albums. Pasting these FREE items in your books will add color and flare without a pricey visit to the scrapbook store.
For those die-hards who love to buy the extras...RESEARCH and PLAN AHEAD! Hit the hobby store before your trip. Many offer entire aisles of cruise and vacation related stickers, papers, and embellishments. If you love it and buy it remember it during the cruise. Check your itineraries. AT ShipOuts, we often find ourselves making sure we don't skip the photos of lets say "Limbo Night" since we have a Limbo Night Sticker pack waiting at home after the cruise. It may sound excessive but those dedicated scrapbookers will know exactly what we are saying! -Happy Scrapping!
