The Slanket, also called a sleeved blanket, is just as its name suggests - a body length blanket with sleeves made of fleece material. It looks similar in design to a bathrobe that is worn backwards, except that it is longer. Basically, the Slanket is a blanket that lets you move your arms about freely, without exposing them to the cold.
The idea of the Slanket was conceptualised in 1998, when Gary Clegg (Slanket creator) decided to tear a hole in his sleeping bag to keep his upper body warm as he channel surfed during commercial breaks whilst watching television in his cold dorm room. During vacation that year, Clegg told his mother to make him a blanket with a single sleeve for use, which he later developed into one with two sleeves and this was how the Slanket was born.
Slankets are very soft to the touch as they are made of 100% polyester microfibers. With a width of 60 inches and a length of 95 inches, it is long enough to completely cover all individuals, no matter how tall they are! The Slanket is lightweight and designed in such a way that its wearers do not feel as if they are lugging around a heavy blanket. With it's over sized sleeves, there is enough space for manoeuvrability people can change channels with the remote when watching television, make a cup of coffee, game on their laptops, talk freely on cell phones and read a book with ease and in warm comfort.
The Slanket is a great way to combat the cold and keep the heating bills low. One of the advantages of this blanket is that it is machine washable, and has no risk of the stitching becoming undone as it is a very well sewn blanket. Also, because it is so lightweight, it does not take long to wash or dry.
