Throw a Brilliant Bachelor Party
Throw a Brilliant Bachelor Party

Your best mate is getting married. You've teased him, bought him a pint, reflected on your own love life and promised you'll be his best man, so what's the next step? Planning him the perfect bachelor party, of course!

Being the best man means you'll have lots of duties and responsibilities, but one of the most important ones has got to be making sure you send off your buddy in style. A great bachelor party means different things to different people, but there's one thing that they all have in common - a good dose of planning and some hard work on the part of the best man!

The first thing you need to do when planning your mate's bachelor party is to check out the lay of the land. They might already have some pretty strong ideas in mind, or there may be specific reasons why they don't want to go rock climbing - they are secretly afraid of heights for example. However, if you're the best man, you'll probably have a good idea of what's on and what isn't, so you'll more be looking for things such as suitable dates - i.e. not the day before he meets the in laws for a rehearsal dinner! Try to keep it hush hush - the surprise is half of the fun!

You'll need to get in touch with his wife-to-be so you have access to everyone in his address book, then start getting in touch with everyone. Stay open to suggestions, but don't let people bulldoze you into changing the plans too many times - that's a sure fire recipe for disaster. Instead, take their feedback but fill them in on your itinerary and tell them you want them to stick to it. This holds just as true whether you're planning a low-key pub crawl or a full scale holiday abroad.

When the big night draws closer, you'll want to make sure you have all the small practical details in place. Is your bachelor's passport up to date if you're travelling? Do you have a camera to record the mayhem and stern promises from everyone that pictures will only be shared after the wedding? Have you bought some fabulous and funny bachelor costumes to make sure everyone can see that you're celebrating as you take your bachelor to the street?

Once you've got all the small things sorted you're ready to get on with what's most important, making sure your mate has a night to remember.
