Newly Expanded Routes for Turkish Airlines Amidst Impressive Profits in 2010

Turkish Airlines, which is Europe's 4th largest airline carrier, is quickly moving into the position of becoming an airline industry leader. The airlines has destinations across the world in Asia, Europe, North America, South America and is making inroads to service select locations in Africa. This company is approaching 80 years of flying business. This company has seen the good with the bad. However, the one thing that is very amazing, especially for a global airline, is the fact that not only are they still viable, but they are even more stronger today than ever.

Spain's Valencia is the newest addition to the long list of routes operated by Turkish Airlines and there will be four weekly flights to this destination. The next route to open up will be Istanbul to Malaga, also in Spain, which should start in April. There will be three flights per week on this route. These destinations are being added to the existing routes that Turkish Airlines flies to Spain, namely Barcelona and Madrid. This is planned to be quite a busy year for the Turkish airline and these additional routes are just the start of it. 2011 will witness a significant route expansion with many new destinations joining the list. A number of flights to France are being planned for the summer of 2011, with destinations such as Toulouse, Paris, Nice and Lyon. With these additions, the airline will have 175 destinations in its offering, even though the year is still at the beginning. Negotiations between the English soccer team, Manchester United, and Turkish Airlines were finalized in October 2010 which resulted in a three-year contract. Manchester United will partner with Turkish Airlines for a TV commercial that is meant to position the airline as a great means of travel for business-class passengers. This is an exciting time for both organizations for many reasons. The idea of the new series of commercials is for them to feature some of the top players having a great time while traveling business class with Turkish Airlines.

Turkish Airlines has an extensive history that has seen quite a few problems at the beginning. Such a situation is not unusual for airlines, though, since they have to face a number of issues. There have been a wide range of modifications implemented in this airline at all levels. They have learned their lessons well, though, and have come out on top as a powerful company that is capable of adapting.
