"Subtext be damned" is the clarion call of Gaul's head automaton film, "The Horde," which keeps the pedal pretty close to the metal the whole time. Professionally assembled on a tricky $3 million funds by debuting item directors Yannick Dahan and Benjamin Rocher, this high-grunge article makes the on the whole of its partial sets, as cops and criminals are strained to labor concurrently in a tower wedge invaded by the undead. However, the focal protags hardly register in the pauses sandwiched between the violence. Only Pignot, as crabby Vietnam vet Rene, adds particular character ballast.
