The provision of good and reliable healthcare is a vital component of a society's growth. Due to the high importance of good health care, it's become extremely expensive to attain. This has extensively affected marginalized societies due to inequitable distribution of the constrained health resources. The primary health care systems formulated by governments are inadequate and scarce hence insufficient. There are various organizations that have come up with programs to bridge these gaps created by governments in provision of primary health care. Since the minority individuals are underrepresented, the programs created have focused on uplifting their health and living conditions. The institutions have enabled disadvantaged individuals to acquire training, mentoring, counseling and financial aid required to overcome the daily challenges.
The disparities in healthcare have imposed a great strain on the disadvantaged populations in the society leading to reduced productivity. In most situations, the minority are not consulted when health systems are being implemented leading to the one size fits all policy' which does not represent the needs of the people (University of New South Wales). The working with minority groups in provision of health care and empowering them to make treatment decisions is the core principle in elimination of health disparities. Since inequality eventually leads to demise of the society, it's been of great need to create systems that look into equity of the constrained available resources (University of New South Wales).
The low social status, poverty, racism, social expulsion and immigration (both legal and illegal), unemployment and violence have been categorized as the major effects of disparity in most societies (University of New South Wales). The formation of a multi stakeholder strategy by the Center for Cross culture in Minnesota has greatly harmonized their society and improved distribution of resources especially among non white populations. This has been achieved through the collective consultations with impacted communities to achieve lasting solutions to their problems. The soliciting of solutions collectively has also led to reduced time in attaining objectives and the achievement of equality in health care provision.
There have been recent programs geared towards expansion and establishment of health professions among minority groups. The main purpose of the programs is to improve health education and to offer community based training to minority groups. This has led to the diversity in cultural, racial and ethnic influences built towards a balanced society due to diversified health care workforce. Due to the great cultural and linguistic diversity that categorizes minority groups, there's been need to create a translation organization to help interpretation of various languages. These has helped the healthcare providers to be more cultural competent in delivery of their services. By understanding and respect of other cultures, the learning and appreciation of the world's diversity has been achieved and accepted (Cross Cultural Health Care Program).
According to the NCC, the emergency of Lesbians, Gay, Bisexuals and Transgender (LGBT) form a minority groups that require special forms of attention against the aggressive anti-homo society. There's also the need for cultural and linguistic competence. The underdeveloped organization policy is viewed as the major health and mental health care system flaw. The translation of evidences into policies have acted has a solid bridge for socioeconomic growth among the minority groups. The improved mental health care, education, advocacy have promoted sustained linguistic and cultural competency. The provisions of learning tools, publications and research have led to creation of mental and health care systems that are solution oriented and effective ( Georgetown University Center for Child and Human Development ).
Many of the American people fall under the minority groups that includes the uninsured, LGBT and the terminally ill hence the importance of Health Resources and Services Administration body. It was formed to ensure equity in provision of health care services among the varied genres in America's highly diversified population. Its aim is to provide financial and leadership support to the health care providers. This was by provision of training to health professionals and availing improved health care systems in rural settings. It also helps to cater for people affected by medical injustices e.g. bioterrorism, compensating vaccination harmed people and the protection of people against health care malpractices health care waste abuse (Health Resources and Services Administration ).
The creation of a center for family and cultural diversity helps to improve the response of health care among the varied cultural settings. The training, provision of technical consultation sites and free dissemination of diversified information on the health trends and people most at risk as helped to avail an equitable health care system. Research has also helped to gauge the outcome of the cultural and linguistic model in provision of health care (Roberto).
