Music and It's Miraculous Healing Power

Music has a mysterious way of drawing out emotions from humans. The right kind can bring back happy memories, making people laugh, cry and remain eternally happy. The wrong ones on the other hand can draw out memories best forgotten, stress and even anger. This is probably the reason why people have their own preference in music. Each listen to different artist and albums, and buy tickets to different concerts. What is pleasing to one's ears isn't necessarily the case for another.

However, music's potential doesn't end with its popularity. Most times, it has the power to affect people without their recognition. Music heals. This is a proven fact with either a scientific data to prove it, or people's own experiences.

It was during World War II when doctors first used music as a healing therapy. Soldiers who were wounded and shell-shocked were exposed to music during their recuperation. It was found that their rehabilitation rates were far better than those who didn't undergo music therapy.

Music also affects people daily without their knowing. At groceries, restaurants and other crowded places, music is played not for the sole purpose of entertaining people. It is played for a different purpose and that purpose bears favourable results to businesses. For instance, supermarkets play slow music rather than faster ones. This isn't entirely intended for people to relax, instead, it coaxes them to buy more! In a study conducted by one supermarket, they found sales increased by 40% when slow music was played.

In eating a meal, studies show that soft and slow music, such as classical, makes people eat slower. Fast music on one end makes them eat faster. Eating food slowly obviously has the better advantage. The brain needs at least 20 minutes to figure out if the body's satisfied. Eating fast makes people eat more. By the time 20 minutes is up, they have taken in unnecessary calories making them unhealthy.

Playing relaxing and soothing music also helps people in many other aspects of their life. Driving rage for instance can be avoided by playing music. It will make the drive less stressful and more enjoyable.

Music also takes out the stress in paying the bills. Those who played music while writing their checks feel less stressed. Music helps take their minds off the stress of financial situations and all other matters relating to money.

Furthermore there are more uses and benefits of music. For people that are under pressure or have increased stress levels they can save themselves a trip to the doctors and instead medicate themselves by playing the music that makes them feel the most relaxed.
