Dengue symptoms can occur to people of all ages but it mostly affects children under the age of 15 years.

* Fever

* Headache

* Rashes on the arms and legs initially and then spreading to the abdomen, chest and back.

* Flushed face

* Lower backache and weakness

* Redness and pain in eyes

* Severe muscular and joint pain

* Swelling in lymph nodes

All these Dengue symptoms subside within 2-3 days and later on patient experiences heavy sweating.

Dengue is also known as Break bone Fever because the patients of Dengue often have severe symptoms of intense joint and muscle pain.

In more severe cases, patients have symptoms like high fever and headache. The dengue virus causes the swelling and leakage of blood vessels and creates small purple colored spots on the skin. Bleeding into the stomach causes severe abdominal pains and vomiting. The damaged blood vessels eventually become so large that they are unable to supply the needed blood flow and the oxygen it carries to the body's tissues. Due to this dengue symptom the body to go into shock, and can damage major organs such as the heart and kidneys.

Prevention

Prevention is always better than cure; this is an old age saying which stands very true for Dengue prevention. For Dengue prevention, the breeding of its vector, the Aedes mosquito should be prevented. The Aedes mosquito is distinguished by its black and white stripes. It breeds in clean, stagnant water easily found in our homes so we should make sure that water storage containers are covered to prevent breeding of mosquitoes. Dengue mosquito usually bites during the day so we should protect ourselves from the bite by wearing full-sleeve clothes or long dresses to cover the hands and leg for Dengue prevention.

We can also use repellents mosquito coils and electric vapor mats during the day for Dengue prevention. If there are diagnosed Dengue cases in the neighborhood, then we can spray the aerosol insecticides in the corners of homes to kill the adult mosquitoes resting in the corners preferably during early morning.
