Why Doesn't He Like Me?
Why Doesn't He Like Me?

It is a painful feeling to be attracted to someone who does not share your sentiments. Dating allows us to get to know someone and to help us decide if we want to take the relationship to the next level. However, there are times when the relationship ends up being one-sided; the woman can feel attracted to a man who does not wish to pursue a relationship with her. Does this mean that there is something wrong with the woman? No, not at all! A relationship between a man and a woman is more than mere physical attraction; for some mysterious reasons, a man can feel more attracted to someone else and not you!

Although men also feel hurt when they are rejected by women they do not express their hurt the way women do. Women who are more vulnerable and sensitive by nature take this rejection personally.

Very often, when a woman falls in love with a man who does not feel the same way about her, she ends up losing her self-confidence; she starts to believe that she is not attractive and there is something wrong with her. In the series "The Bachelor", women who were beautiful and successful felt unworthy when they were not selected by the "Bachelor". Take a look at some of the celebrities like Jennifer Aniston and Sandra Bullock; both these women are beautiful and successful yet they had to endure the pain of a failed marriage. It must have also been a painful experience to see someone you love find love with someone else!

As difficult as it may be to understand the chemistry between a man and a woman, we still need to accept and move on when a relationship does not work out the way we had anticipated.

There are several articles on "How to make a man like you" or "How to make a man fall in love with you". The advices given are good and it can guide you in a relationship. However, remember that no matter how hard you try to follow the "rules" and "strategies", some of these relationships still do not work out in your favour.

Do not "beat yourself up" trying to figure out what went wrong or think that you are not good enough! The way the mind works and the way each person responds to one another is much more complex and there is no simple formula to unveil the mystery of relationships.

In some circumstances, relationships do not work out due to incompatibility in personality or interests but some relationships just fail for no apparent reason. This concept applies to both intimate relationships as well as friendships.

"He's just not that into you" is a self-improvement book written by Greg Behrendt and Liz Tuccillo that was published in 2004 and later adapted into a film by the same name. The book was inspired by an episode in Sex and the City titled "Pick-A-Little, Talk-A-Little, in which Miranda Hobbes asks Carrie Bradshaw's boyfriend, Jack Berger, to analyze the post-date behaviour of a potential love interest. Because the man declined Miranda's invitation to come up to her apartment after the date, stating that he has an early meeting, Berger concludes "He's just not that into you", adding, "When a guy's really into you, he's coming upstairs, meeting or no meeting."

Sometimes the excuses that are made can be genuine but sometimes it can be his way of letting you know that he is not interested in you in "that way"! It is a harsh reality to digest! However, always try to remember that you too have at some point or another felt that way about a guy; a guy who wanted to pursue a relationship with you but you did not share his sentiments. Women are not always the victim of rejection, men have also been rejected; both men and women can hurt from the experience.

Do not give up hope in finding that "someone special" who will accept you for who are and shower you with the love that you want and deserve; there is someone special for each and every one of us.
