To keep your Mana levels high, Arcane Mage is one best Mage PvP talents in Cataclysm which you can cleverly spend your time with. They have now been devised with plenty of Fire power to take out your opponents. Absolutely, you're going to love the changes to the talent tree in Cataclysm.
These talents may not be the most Mana efficient spells that you have, but they are designed to provide maximum nuking power. Among these talents include Arcane Power, Arcane Concentration, Improved Mana Shield and Presence of Mind. Introducing the new talent called Slow, from the name itself, it is capable of slowing down your opponent to keep your distance and you can use your spells to take them down at your leisure.
If you are serious about winning in PvP, you might just as well add Improved and Empowered Arcane Explosion and Arcane Missiles. These are the new special ability of the Arcane Mage to effectively increase the amount of damage to the opponent, in contrast to the old straight button activated spells. Combining them altogether makes the Arcane Mage an unstoppable in both arenas and the battlegrounds.
If it's so happened that Arcane is not your main spec, then just put enough points in Arcane to get the Arcane Power so that you can still take advantage of those hard hitting Arcane spells that are very powerful in PvP. Or take the next most popular build, the Fire Mage. It is still a hugely popular build that can provide massive amount of damage. However, Arcane has replaced the Fire as the hardest hitting.
Fire, aside from its powerful hard hitting spells, already includes the new Fire Orb which is capable of tracking the target down and does almost 500 DPS for up to 15 seconds. Combining this with Arcane Missiles, opponents will not last very long. Using these two builds however, are very heavy Mana users, so keep a close eye on your Mana Levels.
