Since I was young I have always been obsessed with the idea of flying and traveling the world by plane. Just the thought of being able to control something as massive as a 747 or not being limited by land or sea always got me excited. Since being a pilot isn't my main job, the closest thing that I can go to is a flight simulator and the experience that they provide. In the following article, I'll give my experience of one of the top flight simulators on the market today in my Pro Flight Simulator review.
As a background, I've used numerous flight simulator programs and some have been good, while others bad. A lot provide different aspects and versions of flying, but none have everything that someone really wants. There are always parts left out, but the Pro Flight Simulator seems to have everything in good order. There are numerous features that aren't present in other flight simulators, while having everything else that makes for a complete and true flying experience.
The pros of the flight simulator are numerous in number, but when it comes to cons I cannot think of many. It has a built-in environment editor, over 20,000 real airports, and hundreds of different planes and helicopters. I've had it for over 3 months now and still haven't been everywhere or flown every plane. It's integrated with Google Maps so you can literally go anywhere in the whole world. I actually flew from Chicago to New York and flew over my house that was perfectly made out among the scenery. If that isn't amazing I don't know what is.
Unfortunately, the flight simulator industry hasn't gotten the pristine, high definition graphics that other video games have, but that's not really what I was looking for. The true greatness of a flight simulator comes from the realistic experience and feel of flying that one gets. The software is truly awesome and it gets me excited every time I start it up and decide where I want to fly that day. The realistic experience of flying is one like I've never had before and it will provide even true pilots with an amazing experience.
