Britain's First Dual Shredder

Cheltenham based Secure Shredding company, Printwaste have succesfully implemented the first Dual Shredding system in Britain by combining two AXO shredders.

The idea of the Dual Shredder was that of Printwaste's Director of Operations, Geof Robins inhis persuit of a smaller and more consistant shred size. After using the single shred system for a considerable period it became clear that more could be done to improve the quality of the shred and with it, the level of security achieved. It's a known fact within the industry that all industrial shredders are subject to a certain amount of 'pull-through'. The pull-through relates to paper which manages to bypass the shredder blades effectively getting pulled through the system untouched and close monitoring of the shred is a must to see that these pieces and put back through the shredder. To combat this the decision was made to send every piece of shredder material back through the shredder in order to eliminate the risk of anything being overlooked. However, this soon proved to be unexceptably time consuming. What was needed was a system that allowed the material to be loaded just once but shred twice, the solution, two shredders running in tandem.

After deciding that such a system was essential to the development of the company Printwaste set about locating a company who provided a dual shred system but there were none to be found. Printwaste were not going to let this stop them, they wanted a dual shredding system and with the use of AXO's shredding technology, designed their own. The Dual Shredder was born and remains the only shredder capable of providing the quality of shred and level of security through the quality of destruction.
