Today I would like to talk about fraud protection in the realm virtual business. Our business is almost completely automated so if some person has had their cc stolen, or their PayPal.com account compromised then it is possible that the thief could utilize their information to order services from us. Recently we have had a few fraudulent sales. These sales are a pain due to the PayPal process of getting the actual owner of the funds back the money that was stolen from them. And any time we take. The reasons for the order being marked as fraud are as follows: This order is very high risk, and we suggest you not accept it. This order is extremely high risk, as it came from an open proxy. This order is higher risk because the distance between the billing address and the user's actual location is so great (3000 miles)
Now I know there could be an explanation for the distance issue. We have a company Credit Card and it is used by the mangers of this company in several locations around this country. The biggest flag for this order came from the Open Proxy that Client X ordered from. I am so happy that we chose MaxMind to help us in fitting fraud, there really are lots of hackers and identity thief's out there so be careful and take the proper precautions to protect your selves...
